Slow leak from transmission drain plug
Hi all, I got my basket case KDX200 together and running, and now I've noticed a slow leak from the drain plug. The drain plug is the correct one. The previous owner put two crush washers on there that were not the right part, so I got the correct one from my Kawasaki dealer but she's still leaking. Is this common with the KDX? Any easy solutions?
Thanks
Thanks

I wrap the threads with thread tape or use the liquid thread tape, works for me. If that doesn't work you might look closer for a leak somewhere else, could be running down.

Any chance the threads are a little stripped or damaged?
Did you use a torque wrench?

If the threads are messed up , this product works good . Everything has to be clean and dry.

IMO - Don't do anything that makes removal difficult.
Sounds like the threads are messed up. Use pipe compound or Teflon tape. Is that doesn't work you can try a Heli-coil.

Plumber's tape did the trick, no more drip drip drip. Thanks!canamfan wrote:I wrap the threads with thread tape or use the liquid thread tape, works for me. If that doesn't work you might look closer for a leak somewhere else, could be running down.
I've never had to do that before on any previous bike, and given the condition the bike was in when I bought it (non-running, poorly maintained) I suspect the threads are a little messed up.
