Cutting case

Post by KDX220rser »

how do you guys cut the case for the 17mm kx rod? Its a 15mm hole and needs to be 17mm. Reamer will not do it in one cut. do i need to ream it to 16mm first. of do i need to just drill it will a 17mm bit and ream it to 17mm? does it need to be on a drill press or can i do it will hand drill?

This is coming from a person that attempts to do everything himself - I'd let a machine shop handle it. I wouldn't trust that you'd be able to set up the engine and secure on a drill press. I defintely wouldn't risk doing it with a hand drill.

Now if you had the cases split and could lay them flat on the drill press table, that would be a different story.

I bought the reamer and the machine shop charged me $40. To me that was well worth it to avoid screwing up the cases. That was the only thing I didn't do with my hybrids.

I did mine myself.

I'd let a machine shop do it next time.
