Is OEM the only option?

Post by soup-n-sandwich »

Hi guys,
I'm backing doing the 2002 KDX220 build.
The first question is,what are you guys doing when it comes to replacing all of the rubber grommets, bushings and isolator pads?
I need the rubber grommets and metal sleeves that go on the radiators, gas tank, exhaust silencer and I would like to replace the four rubber pad that are glued to the frame also.

I purchases the IMS super stock pegs. With the stock pin and spring they aren't exactly drop in replacements when it comes to the springs. The peg brackets on the bike are worn so I'll be repairing this with weld then grinding them to factor spec but I haven't found any springs that actually work well for these IMS pegs.

Have any of you thought of a better way to source these rubber isolator grommets parts for this bike or should I order some lube and buy OEM?
Thank you
C

The round vibration isolator bushings/grommets could certainly be sourced elsewhere, but the pads that the fuel tank sit on are pretty proprietary looking, but I'm sure something else could be substituted and glued onto the frame in a pinch.

I can't comment on the IMS footpeg spring question.
