Hi guys,
I've been semi forced to install a plastic tank on my SR, but as you know this means removing the original oil reservoir.
I am very keen to keep the autolube mechanics, but I can't see any space in the bike where I could fit an alternative oil reservoir, so I was wondering if I could re-purpose the coolant reservoir to use it for oil instead? I believe the bike can run without the coolant reservoir so maybe it can be done?
If I give up and decide to run on pre-mix, should I remove the pump and cables? Or keep it in place but covering the oil intake?
Best,
Felipe

Re: Plastic tank and autolube
Must be an '89-'93 KDX200SR or perhaps a KDX250SR?
I no exactly what you're talking about there Darryl with the 220 SR oil tank mounted behind the left rear side cover.

Re: Plastic tank and autolube
Sorry, should have specified!
It's a 1989 KDX 200 SR, which originally comes with a steel petrol tank and the oil reservoir right underneath it. It also comes with a coolant reservoir in the back, where your bikes seem to have the oil reservoir instead. Could you guys share a picture of your oil reservoir by any chance?
Many thanks,
Felipe

Re: Plastic tank and autolube
Will try get the photos posted, how much room do you have with the plastic tank ? As an idea, my kdx 220sr has a Clark plastic tank and there was no room to fit my fan so I heated the tank with my plastic welder to make room for the fan
