Rear axle ID and length
Can anyone tell me the total length on the rear axle and how big the opening is for the hollow part on each side? I won't be around mine for a few days and am trying to figure something out

Re: Rear axle ID and length
Apologies for the late response, hopefully it's not too late! Note that your the threaded side will be pounded out a bit and won't in reality be the same ID as the through bore. Mine measured .485" on one side but probably more like .450" on the threaded side - I drilled it out a bit when I noticed that.......

As well, I didn't convert and nicely round them to metric measurements which I'm sure they were when manufactured......... hopefully this is what you were looking for......

Re: Rear axle ID and length
That is very helpful. I think I need the length from one end of the hollow part to the other but my bike is still being rebuilt at a buddy's so it may be a week or two. What I'm trying to do is mount a trailer that uses a skewer through the rear axle. The builder makes mounting hardware/skewers for the KLX250 but I think this might be a wider axle, not sure.Kawibunga wrote: 02:56 pm Oct 05 2025 As well, I didn't convert and nicely round them to metric measurements which I'm sure they were when manufactured......... hopefully this is what you were looking for......
What he told me was he needed to know how long the axle was and that it would need to be at least 3/8" inner diameter for the skewer. This tells me the skewer will fit but not positive how long it needs to be yet. Regardless it is greatly appreciated

Re: Rear axle ID and length
This is great, thank you again. I'll verify mine is more or less the same but I'm guessing it'll work. I'll pass this along.
The trailer is a single wheel deal made for single track or touring even. Mine is 30lbs with a 60lb capacity but I think the newer version he builds has better numbers and can be adapted to different lengths now as well. Different skewers or necessary hardware can adapt the trailer from one bike to the next. Might be something some other owners are interested in. They're not cheap but mine seems extremely well built. Kipmoto is the company for those who may be curious. I don't work for them or anything like that. Just decided to get one some years ago now for my tw200
