Help with washer location after case splitting

Post by Chevydawg1 »

I just split the case on my 05 220 because the Piston skirt broke then cracking the left case. After splitting the case a washer dropped out. I checked the manual and exploded transmission view but can't seem to locate it. It only fits the input shaft where it enters the bearing the right case. Here is a picture where it may go. Is this correct? Also, should I buy just the left case or find a matching set? Thanks for your time!

Found it...I guess it was stuck behind clutch basket and I missed it. Bumping the case with a rubber mallet while splitting the case must have caused it to fall off.

Glad you got it. Usually cases are machines for each other, so a matched set is the way to go.

I would try to TIG weld the cracked case.
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Wouldn’t that depend on location?

Yes it sure would. I'd like to see a picture. I could be wrong but, I bet it can be welded.

Yeah always replace them as a set, but if you can repair your cases without warping them it’s probably more cost effective.
