Voltage regulator...
Ok here goes I have an 89 Kdx 200 ... From what I've seen online and found the 89 does not have a voltage regulator.. I keep burning headlight bulbs in mine and I'm planning on setting it up as a dual sport by running a brake light.. Here is the million dollar question .. How hard would it be to install a regulator and would it help with the burning up of headlights.. Has anyone done this before???

Re: Voltage regulator...
I don't see why not. Give it a try. Pay attention to polarity. If you wire it backwards you will probably toast the lighting coil.

Will the stock 1990 to 1994 part work?

Re: Voltage regulator...
I think all KDXes have a regulator because they don't have a battery (which would serve to limit the voltage)

Jason
From what I'm seeing it's common to use the 90-94 regulators in the 89 bikes

Re: Voltage regulator...
They have lights, you just have to have both the front and back bulb in the circuit to use up the voltage. My KDX175 is the same way. If you lose one bulb the other will get popped by a voltage overload.
