what forks will fit?

Post by BobbyZ »

I couldnt find a decent complete bike for a donor so I'm trolling ebay to piece my kx/kdx together........so far I have a 01 125 frame and swing arm.But I'm wondering if some of the later forks and shocks might be a little better then the 99-02 stuff.Anyone have ideas on what will bolt up?is any of the later stuff considerably better?

you need to watch out for fork tube size, my 01 are of a smaller diameter than my 02, I dunno about later years though. so you have to match fork tube and triple clamp. The thing is they had the same cat # on microfiche if I recall... :?
You may have to reshim to suit your riding style whatever year you get.
Hope this help.

Use Showa twin chamber forks, the triple clamps from a KX250f (I used 07's) fit right on and the off-set is 24.5mm and the 04 KX125 frame I used has 25mm off-set, so little difference. Plenty of triple clamps available as these years Kawi's frequently had clamps changed-out to aftermarket. I bought a pair of twin chamber forks from an 07 kxf for $200 and are in excellent condition. The Best set-up after re-valve and springing.
