I bought this thing from Rocky Mountain to split the cases on my kid's YZ after he turned his motor into shrapnel. It's pretty adaptable, the case attachment arms swing freely, allowing you to find the right 6mm socket to screw the included threaded rods into. The case came apart fairly easily, but you have to apply enough torque to the splitter bolt that you start to think the cases are going to let go.
Once they started to split, I used a shot-filled mallet to get the back end caught up to the front. The YZ had a little lug that looked like it was designed for this. RM also has vids on their site to show you the process.
All in all, I'm glad I went this route vs. paying a shop to screw up his cases and charge me for a lot of parts they broke. I'm more of a pack your own parachute guy due to a lot of negative experiences with so-called "professionals" that I wouldn't trust to disassemble a flashlight, so I appreciate Tusk offering affordable tools that do the job.
If you need to split your cases, I think you'll be happy with the Tusk unit.
