1979-1981 reproduction KX250/420 fuel tanks, do they fit KDX250/420?

Post by Chuck78 »

I was just reading a KX500 resto-mod thread on Vital MX, and the guy used a tank from a company called VMX Racing, who I'd never heard of before, but who make a large amount of older dirt bike fuel tanks.

The first 3 out of their 50 different tank offerings were 1979 KX250 & 1980-1981 Kawasaki KX250 & KX420, pictured here:

This led me to wonder, do these possibly also fit the KDX250 & KDX420 of those years?

They just might, at which point they'd be a lifesaver for some who don't want to try and make a universal air cooled KDX tank fit.

I'm assuming they make the tanks themselves, as the majority of their products are plastics.

This also made me wonder if perhaps this would be a good company to hit up to get green KDX200 E-Series tanks reproduced, since there's only one place in the world to get new plastic tanks for them and that's from Brazil or Argentina, and they don't come in green... OLM Tanks would be the one I'm referring to. They're quite costly with international shipping and tariffs.
