Flipping reeds over

This is new to me and I’ve never really looked at the Boyesen instructions. In there it says to flip them if needed when new to get them to sit flat. I’ve heard of people doing that to get a little more life out of them but never thought to check brand new.
I was installing dual stage pro series reeds on a bike and decided to check them by laying them on a granite counter and then pushing my fingers down where the screws go. The base petals with the large opening in them sat flat but the carbon fiber top petals definitely have a crown to them. Push down and the front raises up. Flip them over and they stay flat. Holding them on the cage with my fingers one way has light all the way across and when flipped over, no light at all.
I have a set of new super stock reeds on hand so decided to check those. They both have a side that sits flatter. I also have a set of replacement petals for my KDX V Force when I need them and those also have a side that sits much better than the other. We should check them out every time before installation.
