Hi Folks,

Wanted to give some feedback on the new emulsion tube from KDXdazz.
Big improvement with the replacement. The carb on my bike was from Ron Black, new with the divider mod. About 400 hrs currently.
The bike ran well, but smoked a lot, and spooged a lot too. The emulsion tobe was worn about .025mm(.001 inch) oversized.
New part installed, and went to riding place in N California(Stonyford) this weekend past. Much less smoke after operating temp reached, less spooge, and a bit better fuel economy.
1600 - 6000 ft elevation, temps - 60's to 70's.

400 hours... That's a new one for me to hear, but considering how much that needle slides up and down and rubs on various areas of the needle jet orifice, I suppose that should not be surprising!



Now you got me worried, as I put almost 500 hours on my current KDX over the past five seasons... With the majority of those running 2 different models of Lectron carbs! Although the way the Lectron works, the metering rod seals almost entirely around the part that could be referred to as the needle jet emulsion tube, and is not prone to moving around causing one spot to take all of the friction as with a tapered needle.
Hopefully the metering rod system lasts a lot longer, but the tube that the rod inserts into is replaceable, fortunately.

I'm fairly certain if I checked my old PWK33 carb's needle jet orifice diameter and it's roundness, it would be quite evident that it is worn out... I took that carb and later that whole bike out of service pending a long planned major rebuild and upgrades, and also have a Ron Black modified PWK35 Air Striker Quad Vent carb which was run on that bike towards the end of its last incarnation.

Lots of good knowledge on this site. Doing my part to contribute.
We will see how it goes. I don’t get nearly as much riding as you do, so any wear will be drawn out a bit.
I kinda wonder if a bigger diameter needle could be a temporary fix.


Anecdotal story regarding worn tubes -
BMW F650 I had. The emulsion tubes were worn to an oval shape at 50000 miles. New parts improved the fuel economy.

I guess I really need to install the new KDXdazz emulsion tube. I've been reluctant because I'm a little worried about breaking something during the installation process.
