Same?- Oem kdx 200 35mm vs Sudco Keihin PWK 35mm

Post by JZ05220r »

Was just curious is their were any differences between the oem 35mm PWK on a 200 vs a fresh genuine 35mm Keihin PWK? I know slides, needles and jets will differ but not sure about the jetblock height and any internal structure. Thanks

Besides the slide cutaway spec, I believe the OEM KDX PWK carbs also have something else slightly different vs aftermarket identical model PWK, as one carb parts seller advertises the PWK slides as fitting "*except KDX200 PWK." No clue why though, as I've heard of lots of people swapping different cutaway spec slides.

The Sudco has a horseshoe shaped dam about 5mm high in front of the needle, while the OEM does not. It is covered by the slide when closed if I remember correctly. I am currently running the OEM slide which is a 4.5 in the Sudco. I experimented with it by grinding away the cutaway to approx. a 7, (since it was a used spare) which helped cleanup the low end and spooge. Still using it to this day.

Prior to this just swapping carbs and jets made a big difference in eliminating the finicky jetting traits of the OEM PWK.

Thanks for the info. After looking into this it appears the Airstriker 35mm takes same slide as the 33 and 35mm kdx carbs. I wonder if this “horseshoe shaped dam” you are describing is the jet block protruding. I thought the oem slides were a 5 cutaway???? At the end you mentioned “swapping carbs”… I think you might have meant to say slides. I’m going to be pretty interested in giving the pwk 35mm airstriker a try if I get the chance. Thanks again.
