Hello to all, I have a lot of questions on how to modify this old gal as I can't find much info. I found this bike 6 years ago and got it for 300 bucks. I freaked out when I found it because it was a near perfect version of my first dirt bike that was and is long gone. Seriously, a 1 owner bike that was complete. All I had to do was clean the carb and and it started on the first kick and idled for 45 min before I hoped on for a test ride. I did the expected items tires , chain so on and so forth. Rode her maybe 6-7 good rides, but she mostly sits because its so much work to keep up.
I would like to ride her a little more , so here is what i've come up with on my own. First: Get a set of Boyesen Power reeds , assuming this id the best I can do in that dept. I know DG and probably other companies made an exhaust for this bike but I can't find one, so. Second: Ive read that you can cut the inner layer of the stock pipe out and it creates a poor mans after market exhaust. I would buy a second pipe to try this figuring if it doesnt work I wasted 50-100 and if does at all , It's better than nothing. Hopefully the last part doesn't seem to crazy. Iv'e also read that in the early 80's people were mounting the KDX 175 jug onto the KX 125 bottom end. Apparently the motors are the same so bolting it on created a big bore kit. The KX gearing is more aggressive. I actually had a 1981 KX 125 when I was 14-15. This would have been 1994-95. That bike in a straight line was as fast as any of the new 125's at the time[The track was a diff story but in the wood it was still capable] and without a doubt faster than the 175. S here it is. Third: Put the bottom half of the KX 125 with the top end of the 175.
This isn't my main ride so none of this is necessary but I think it would be fun to do. If anyone has ideas about what Im doing or anything new to add in I'm listening. On the same note if anyone know where I can start looking for parts [ besides ebay] I would appreciate it. I would really love to find a after market exhaust. I'd rather not try to make an exhaust.
I look forward to hearing what kind of ideas are out there.

GMC in Australia has a very good reputation in the exhaust department. If you're in the US the exchange rate is certainly in your favour !

I meant that seriously. It seems like a free , untouched land that would be fantastic to ride in.
