88 kdx bore job

i have a 88 kdx 200. i need to get it bored. how far can i go? i've seen some 240 and 244 kits. does this require extensive work with the head and porting? Reliability? Is it worth the $170 to send my carb to Ron Black? Thanks for any help!!

Ive heard the big bor kits can put a bit too much stress on the little and big ends, but thata what ive heard.it might be worth looking for a used barrel.
