Kdx 220 lowering links /exhaust questions

Post by ohgood »

I have a 1997 kdx220, with kyoba lowering links. I believe they're "1" series.

I would like to get the bike up to stock height since I'm 6'4", unless there are any negatives to the stock higher height vs these lowering links?

I have no complaints with the machine yet, other than it needs a quieter exhaust than the bike shiny pipe that's on it now.

I'll be willing to trade one of my full exhaust systems for the stock (quiet please!) setups.

Thanks for ant input in either of these questions, I want to make my kdx as stealthy and woods perfect as possible.

When I have both of them (I have two aftermarket systems) side by side I'll get some pictures in this thread.

As much as I like the geewiz stuff, I know it's not going to improve my speed, only my chances of getting caught doing something stupid ;-)

At your height definitely need to get rid of those Kouba links. Stock is 112.5mm between hole centers. I might even have my old ones laying in the garage

I don't know what these are worth, so I don't know whether to all for a price or offer to swap you. Sorry, all of this kdx stuff is new to me

Cool I'll do that this morning on the Mac...

I believe these two systems are:

FMF gnarly expansion with FMF power core 2?

And maybe the stock expansion with pro circuit arrestor?

Which combination will give the best low to mid grunt for tight trails?

And, can that same combo be "quiet" so I can ride more places?

stock pipe will be quieter, FMF will give you more power, everywhere

the silencers im not sure on, weight is probably the only real improvement

Keep the FMF gnarly pipe, and repack either silencer. Keep in mind that neither of those silencers are spark arrestors or forest service approved, so if you ride anywhere thatrequires a spark arrestor you'll need a different sliencer.

the stock pipe is quieter because it has a perforated inner lining in the header.
that reduces the noise that comes through the walls of the pipe but it also reduces performance.
