do i need a new carb

I am having quite the time trying to get my carb to quit over flowing. I have cleaned it, replaced the needle valve, cleaned the needle valve seat, and adjusted the float level multiple times. still wants to occasionly stick open! Is it time for a new carb? if so where to buy? Jets r us has new ones for 176$. any thoughts and or suggestion. thanks Bill

I'm pretty sure it's a common issue for the pwk35. Mine starts to drip after a day or two if I leave the fuel on with a good amount of fuel in the tank. 8-12 litres of fuel + gravity = fuel leak.

FRP offers petcock rebuild kits if your petcock isn't 100% shutting off the fuel, or try tightening down the two screws on the front where the switch is. I took mine apart and cleaned the rubber gasket thing and reassembled it really tight so no fuel bypasses the petcock

have you checked the float itself for buoyancy? sometimes with wear and age the float can get filled with gas and become heavy, forcing the float needle to stay open and piss gas out the overflow tubes or into ur motor. get a pan of hot water (not boiling) and with the float at room temp, submerge it and check for any bubbles

already rebuilt the peacock so thats not an issue, will have to check the floats, but anytime I have taken them out I have never suspect theres was fuel in them. But its worth a try. Bill

This was intermittent problem for my bike last season, and it seems to have come back in the last couple days I noticed it has started leaking so I make sure to turn the fuel off when I am not riding.

Another thing you could try is to adjust the small tang that presses the fuel stop needle closed. Put slight upward bend in it, which will put more force on the fuel needle when the carb is full. Then check float level to be sure it is still 16mm +/- 1mm.
