Bought a 1998 kx 125 rolling chassis today for a cheap and I want to do the conversion with a 220 engine that I have as a spare. Can I modify the 1998 swing arm or is better to go with a 1999 and up swing arm?

cant answer your question but its good to see your still fiddling with the bikes

if it comes out looking like your other bikes it will be a nice ride for sure

will you be stockpiling tanks for the KX as well ?

Same here - I dont know enough about the specifics of those years of bikes.

I would think the easiest and most predictable path would be to use the swingarm that came with the bike.

A few months ago someone tried using the KDX swingarm on the hybrid and then ran into some problems. You may be going down a similar path if you try to use the '99 swingarm (assuming it isnt a direct swap).

Then I start with the swing arm modification. there is no need to weld the 94-98 swing arm just be careful wile cutting the left side.

As in any hybrid project I have some minor issues with the air box and pipe fitting but everything is going smooth.

A question about this...(NOT BASHING)...Since the 95+ KDX frame is similar to the older KX frames, what is the point in the hybrid? I get it if you are using a much newer bike, an aluminum frame or hybridding an E series, but the 95 and up KDX has a pretty similar frame doesn't it?

Thanks for the fix, I'm doing this because already have a complete spare engine plus wiring and I found a complete rolling chassis for $150. I think is a good idea to keep my 220 as is and build a new bike with better suspension and ergos for less than $1000.
