Stock E-series Silencer

Post by Keystone »

Key word here is STOCK. Does the stock silencer on any E-series ('89 - '94) have muffler packing? I looked in both the owners manual and service manual and it says nothing about replacing any packing, no photos of any packing, parts diagram shows no packing? Just says clean and inspect.

My stock one appeared to have muffler packing. However I'm sure someone else will know for sure.

Yes. It does have a short section of packing.

On most Kawasaki diagrams, what we call packing, they call wool.

Seems like this part WOOL,BAFFLE PIPE 18046-1115 is discontinued. Has anyone repacked the silencer on the KDX200 recently, what's a good aftermarket alternative? Or should I just go up in the attic and start tearing off sections of insulation.

It is only 2.5" or 3" wide.

FMF sells a $10 retail kit.

If the attic does not have it, then a hardware store may do.

I use standard FMF 2T packing. You can get several repacks from one package.

Found an original OEM package on e-bay and wanted to post photos up for anyone interested. I know sometimes this stuff disinigrates or is just missing, this will give you some reference. Original part (packing) is about $20 but is discontinued. Total weight was about 1oz.

Was it cut like that already? I have one of those, but never took it out of the pack.
