New bearings Q ?????

Post by 6 Riders »

OK, I am going to replace all the bearings on my 94, linkage, head, everything. If I buy a linkage kit, what do I need to add to it to finish the rear suspension?

i have a linkage kit and it's just bearing for the linkage ( 3 bearing 6 seals) , i think you have to buy bearing for swingarm and the bearing of the bottom of the shock
i'm French and I don't speak English very well, so, please, excuse me :)

Generally the Linkage kits will have the bearings for the linkage (3 sets of bearings/seals) and the lower shock bearing. You usually have to get the upper shock bearing separate to complete the set. All the other bearing kits com complete (swingarm, steering, wheels). I have used Pivot Works for years with no issues, and last year I used an All Balls Kit (against the recommendation of several riding buddies) and have had no issues with them. I do, however, change my bearings every year (probably overkill, but in the muck and wet of the Pac NW it's cheap insurance in my book).

Buff, every year is probably way overkill. Even in the PNWET! Well, wheel and steering bearings OK, I get that part....
I'm going to be using a local bearing supplier to get the wheel and stem bearings, since I can get them for next to nothing that way. The swingarm and linkage/shock bearings will most likely be from a kit though. Got to have the cylinder inspected to see if a hone will work or if I'm boring it out. At that point I'll start the frame build, send the head and carb off to RB and order bearings....Probably after Christmas, since I have kids and all.

Yeah I know it is, but it helps me get through the winter when the riding slows  Maybe this year I'll only do wheels... lol
