I don't believe the 84 was a plated cylinder, was it? You should be able to either bore it, or get it re-sleeved. I use langcourt for plating. My local shop uses some outfit out of AL to sleeve or re-sleeve. I'm not sure where you're located, but any local bike shop should be able to hook you up with a machine shop that can press a sleeve.

+1 on langcourt
they did a great job on my 96 KDX200 bore/replate and had great comunication through out
if i had thought to send the powervalve with they would have even matched it to the new bore but i didnt think of that (maybe you will)

Yeah, I'm not 100%, but I didn't think the nicasil bore came out until 86 w/ the KIPS? If not, there is no way I'd go with a sleeve on an airhead that was originally plated. The cooling advantages of a plated cyl VS a non-conducting iron liner are vast.

84 kdx200 cylinder replate or sleeve?
ok so I pulled it apart. the piston looks like it has not been in there very long. the only markings on it are art and an "L". it measures just abit under 66mm. no blowby past the rings crown looks normal but the is a small crack in the skirt and two verticle lines in the cylinder almost feels like it would scrub out. but the thing that bothers me the most is ther is only about 8mm hole drilled in the back (intake side) of the cylinder when I was expecting a port. should I just get the piston and send it off to be plated? thanks in advance Freight
