I read somewhere you needed to use a 1/2 synthetic to get the ring seated properly or sumthin.
I usually use motul 800 and it's 100% synthetic. Do I have to buy another oil?
Thoughts?

I've ran across this comment as well. Don't understand why this would matter. I ran synthetic after I put in the Wiseco in the Fall of '06, no harm done. Same with the kiddo's RM.

If I remember the post, it had sumthin to do with the 1/2 synthetic unableing more wear thus a better ring cylinder seat. But I don't know if it's urban legen or what, looks like I won't bother finding another oil

Dino oil allows more wear... for rings to seat... a certain amount of wear has to take place.

Indeed. I always use whatever cheap oil I have laying around for the first gallon. IE chain saw oil. Synthetic oil stops wear...which is needed for break-in. I've heard of people claiming sucessful ring-seat on full-syn, but it's not my cup o tea. I run motul 800 also.
