No idea on the noise. It does tick a bit at high rpms still which worries me, but it seems to run fine now. Maybe it's just piston slap? I still hear the noise, but with the exhaust damaged the bike was VERY quiet so everything seemed much louder.
I'll take it out for another run Saturday. It ran well last week except when it was getting hot. It was overheating pretty much constantly if I was climbing but I think removing the metal radiator guards will help with that. They really block a lot of airflow.
A BTW, but it's not uncommon for a 220 to have overheating problems. Some have gone to considerable effort to resolve their problems..and not all have succeeded.

The 'best of' is ColoradoMike using a 1.6 cap, I'd say.
Another BTW...but realize the overflow reservoir is commonly empty. If you have a habit of checking it for coolant level before every ride, you will be ADDING coolant before every ride. Added coolant gets sloshed out pretty much all the time.
The reservoir works for short-term overheats..coolant out, then soon it gets sucked back in when the system cools down. As far as carrying around 'reserve' coolant for a ride...it won't happen.
Make sure the rads are full before you ride..don't sweat the rez level.
