Cylinder marking / piston size

Post by colingrigson »

Does this letter 'C' stamped on the cylinder indicate that this cylinder left the factory with a C-size piston installed?

Colin, if you mean Kawasaki factory, then no. If you mean cylinder plating factory or engine builder, then maybe. It's necessary to obtain careful internal cylinder measurements to make the potential link to C- oversizing. It could, however, mean something entirely different. Here's my KDX 220 cylinder stamped "B" for Billie. I made this stamp to satisfy curiosity. With it, I discovered Millenium plating shop actually applied a new coating to and returned the cylinder I shipped to them. I simply wanted to know whether I received my own cylinder or was provided another like-kind cylinder
