I've recently discovered that the 1997-2008 KX125 / 1997-2004 KX250 / 2004 KX250F footpegs are the exact same mounting dimensions as 1998-2015/2016 KTM bikes... as well as more. I know the factory KX pegs were very well loved, but 20+ years later, the originals are likely quite well worn, and also, this opens up great aftermarket options, particularly some budget Titanium foot pegs, which is something I've been looking at in order to save as much weight as possible even on my KDX220 rebuild, and now my '97 KX125 hybrid build...
Here's a loose translation of the long fitment list, as to keep it brief:
*1997-2008 KX125 (250 through 2004 including '04 250F & RM-Z250 Suzuki)
*1998-2015/2016 KTM
* incl. 2008-2014 Husaberg (KTM buyout to the brand demise) & 2014-2015/2016 Husqvarna (after KTM buyout)
*2009-2020 Sherco
*2005-2019 Beta RR/RX
Based on the very useful Factory Image Racing catalogue's interchange:

Great aftermarket MX parts company in the UK, with loads of titanium parts well cataloged. Sadly you won't find much in the way of the FiR branded parts for sale in the USA, but they are available to import.
I believe the reason that some of the aftermarket pegs list 1997-2001 KX125/250 pegs, is that in 2002-2008 KX125 and -2004 KX250, the springs changed. The pegs that list 1997-2004 or 1997-2008 may tell you to use the later style spring on the '97-'01 models. I'm not sure how the other pegs will fit the 2001-2008 KX125, but I'd imagine they'd be very workable with spring mods perhaps? Like I said, a lot of aftermarket KX pegs list 1997-2004/2008 instead of the 1997-2001 cutoff.
Another interesting thing I found out - the 1997 KX125/250 footpeg pins are longer than the 1998-2004 by I recall around 1mm... pegs are a unique part # that 1997 year, but they were a different OEM part number more years than not throughout the aftermarket interchange years listed typically. Constant revisions but all compatible I'll assume.
Unfortunately if looking for aftermarket pins, there's not much specifically listed for the 1997 KX125/250 frames. OEM was 1-year-only, with the 1998 pins part number I believe I recall running through 2004.
