off-throttle high speed concern
my first post, so no idea what im doing. Looking for a discussion mentioned by KDXgarage. Ill try to attach a picture for reference. They mentioned seeing a discussion on "off-throttle high speed concern" in another thread. I got to page 11 in the air cooled section and got lazy. If anybody has had expirence or knows the tread or if kdxgarage finds this. Can you point me in the right direction. I have an 86'. 91 octane. 35 pwk (china). Having the exact same issue. When hot, it surges/revs out. Can get back into it and it'll run fine. But when I stop or pull in clutch. Same thing. Thinking heat related issue. I know I need to buy the trail tech plug temp gauge. Thank you nybody for helping.

Hi. I don't remember the thread, but can make a few guesses. :-)
Have you tried 93 octane?
Have you tried going up on the main jet one?
What heat range plug?

Oh, my goodness, KDX-G! Only 5 years ago. Age may be catching up with you! Remember, a daily ride keeps the mind and body spry. (or, does this advice involve an apple?)KDXGarage wrote: 09:44 am Aug 18 2025 Hi. I don't remember the thread, but can make a few guesses. :-)

Re: off-throttle high speed concern
I like to run stewarts 91 non-eth. Local gas station here in upstate NY. And there's a million of them. I could get 100 low lead AV gas though, pretty local as well. Plug is a BR8ES. My thoughts about the main jet is... cold engine will require more fuel. So I'm not sure if that makes sense to me. Not saying I'm right, your wrong. Just can't wrap my head around it. I have played with jetting of course. Watching plugs. Always seem to be on the rich side. Of course I should try a fresh plug and make it act up. Shut it off. And plug chop. But you know. Should of. Could of. Would of. I guess I just want a clean straight answer of what the other person found with the same issue. But beggers can't be choosers. I really appreciate you and anybody still active on these forums. Especially with these older bikes. I absolutely love my 86. And I keep up and sometimes dominate my buddies. With new ish Ktms and yz-xs. (2013 ish era)
As far as riding every day. Also great idea. Just make sure you're taking care of your body. Before and after. Just like a professional athlete would do.... to an extent. I had a habbit of having beers after... fun but not ideal hahaaa... good protein diet and plants (veg/fruit)
happy riding yall
