Hey all!
I figured I'd share my new jetting with my KDX.
I wanted to clean up the low end on my 200, and read good things about the DGK needle. I was going to get a CGK needle, but had no luck finding one.
The DGK runs rich, so I jetted a bit leaner.
I'm pretty much at sea level here in Tampa, with temps around 80's and 90's and very high humidity.
The bike seemed to like the 35 pilot the most, after going through the tutorial that Inda posted.
I settled on the middle clip on the needle, it provides good response and the clip above (second from top) felt a bit lean to me. Second from bottom clip felt a bit lethargic if I had to put it in words.
I actually kept the 155 main, as it runs great up top still, with the 155 being what I had in with the stock needle (1172 I think?).
I'm in the keys for a diving trip for the next couple days, so I didn't get to do a wide open run and plug chop with the main, but I suspect it's probably still on the rich end given how I didn't change it.
The 35 pilot sounds lean to me (in terms of it being small, not feeling lean). But that's what gave me the right range for the air screw. Any thoughts on running a pilot that lean?
I know it doesn't count for much, but from looking at the 3 plugs I used for the testing for the pilot and needle, the tops are a perfect brown, though that doesn't normally mean much.
It runs great though! I should've sucked it up and dealt with this a while ago! haha
Thoughts?
Thanks guys. Hope all is well.

Oh! I suppose I should list the mods -
FMF Fatty, FMF Silencer and V-Force 3 reeds.
Air box lid on, snorkel removed.

The reason your pilot is so lean is the needle you have is so rich, both in straight diameter and taper, both of these have an effect at idle, just like needle clip position also has an effect at idleSpruceItUp wrote: 08:03 pm Jul 07 2025 Hey all!

It has been a long time, but I think I ended up really lean on the pilot with the DGK needle as well. If that's what your idle screw tells you, I'd go with it.

Re: New jetting on 92 KDX200
Glad to hear that you had a similar experience. I did some riding with it the weekend before last and it rode great. The main is still a tad rich, but otherwise it was running great! I knew the pilot would go leaner, I just didn't expect it to be that lean. I don't think I have a smaller pilot on hand anyways, so thankfully it was good where it was! hahaha
I'm expirementing with the new pro series Lectron right now, just got it delivered on Saturday. Hopefully I have good news! I'll write up a post on it after I get it dialed in.

Good deal! Unless you are way younger and more fit than I am, the DGK is a great choice. CGK adds more of a "hit" in the midrange, more of an MX 2 stroke feel there.

I looked into the CGK but JetsRUs didn't have any, so I went with the DGK. I really like the power out of the DGK. It's much more fitting for the riding I like to use the KDX for.Julien D wrote: 10:49 am Jul 23 2025 Good deal! Unless you are way younger and more fit than I am, the DGK is a great choice. If I really want that hit I'll just go ride the 125!

Re: New jetting on 92 KDX200
I have CGK and DGK needles somewhere. After the RB carb mod I went to CEG DEG I believe. I'd really have to check but that sounds right. Same kinda thing there. CEG hit hard, DEG was nice and smooth throughout the rev range. I stuck with the DEG unless we were out riding fire roads and such.
