Transmission Oil Preference
The Clymer manual says to use 10W-30 or 10W-40 in the lower end on the air-cooled KDX's. What do you guys like?

Re: Transmission Oil Preference
Temperature range? If you are in MI, I doubt 40 would be needed for the winter.
Which bike do you have? (signature.. hint, hint) :-)

Re: Transmission Oil Preference
I could be totally wrong, but I didn't use standard motor oil in my 84. I used oil made for power sports. In my head I was thinking the wet clutch would not like all the additives motor oil has these days. Oil is much different then it was in the 80s..

Gotcha- I was using Bel-Ray Gear Saver 80w transmission oil. I'll stick with this.

Re: Transmission Oil Preference
I switched to ATF-F years ago and never looked back. So cheap too!
