Lacing kx rear rim to kdx hub
I got a 2.15x18 rear kx rim to lace up to kdx hub. It comes with 9 longer inner spokes to put on drive side but i centered the rim to the hub cuz i didnt think kdx's needed offset but it is sitting to far towards drive side in swingarm. So do e series kdx need offset? If so can anyone measure theirs and tell me the offset? I cant measure mine since its already been disassembled and ralaced. It is 14mm off so moving it 7mm to center it seems like alot but idk.

Are you able to dish it to where it is centered within the swingarm?

Re: Lacing kx rear rim to kdx hub
I havnt tried to center it to the swingarm yet. If there is enough threads on the spokes i should b able to. Is that what i should aim for? Centered in the swingarm? Its offset 14mm towards the sprocket now so if i move it 7mm towards the brake it should be centered. I just dont understand if kdx spokes are all the same length and rim is centered in hub how centering kx rim in hub results in offset. Can anyone confirm that e series rim is centered in swingarm?

Re: Lacing kx rear rim to kdx hub
Can someone measure his rear wheel and see how far it is from the swingarm on each side? I think measuring that before taking it off was the ticket.
You are using KX spokes (27 + 9) on a KDX hub??
What year is the rim from (or made for)?
What year KX spokes are ou using (if some aftermarket kit, which one)?
I am no wheel expert, but it makes wonder about using the 27 + 9 spokes on a hub that used 36 of the same. With 36 spokes, surely the stock wheel was centered, not dished to one side or the other.
The 1990 - 1996 KX125 / KX250 / KX500 rear hub is the same as the 1989 - 1994 KDX200 rear hub. Those KX's use 36 spokes in the rear. The next version of hub was the same. I know 2003 and newer are 27 / 9.
On the Excel spokes chart, it shows 89 - 02 kit as different part number than 03+.

Re: Lacing kx rear rim to kdx hub
I just checked rocky mnt and they have same part # for '05 and '00 kx 250 tusk spokes so they must be selling '03+ spokes for earlier years. Interesting thou that in the end i will need to use the offset instead of centering rim in hub. I mic'd my spacers too and they are same width. Oh well. Ima move it over

Have you considered buying the correct spokes?
Someone else on the forum got some from Buchanan. Not $50 from China, but will work properly.

Lacing kx rear rim to kdx hub
I made the mistake of de-lacing my wheels before checking offset. With the spokes all of even length, are the rims simply centered? The shop manual doesn't say a thing. Has anyone measured?

Re: Lacing kx rear rim to kdx hub
I will put my rear wheel, which is still offset, in the swingarm this weekend and while tryn to keep the front wheel as square as possible, see if my front wheel and rear wheel are on the same plane/inline and post the results in case anyone runs across this thread in the future.
