1991 KDX 200

Post by nicmartim »

All, I just go my hands on a fairly nice 1991 200. Runs nice, but will need some work, as expected. It needs a new chain and rear sprocket, and a few knick-knacks here and there, but mostly complete. I also have a lead on a 1989 KX250 basket case for dirt cheap. The bottom end of the KX250 is locked up so it will mostly be just a donor carcass for the KDX, if anything transfers. My question is: what (if anything) will work off of this KX250 on the KDX (calipers, wheels, forks, swingarm, etc)? Part of me want to buy the KX just to see if i can get it going again w/ a full rebuild, but I also dont know exactly what when wrong w/ it so it may be a lost cause. Would it be worth dropping the extra 150 on the KX to keep around in case something fails on the KDX or is it so incompatible that it wouldnt make sense? Thanks!

Very little interchanges. Some plastics and maybe the seat. Maybe worth it to fix the engine if the bike is clean enough and you can get it for next to nothing.
