l wondered why this model kdx had no reserve on the tank. The 175 doesn't either but a 175 wont use fuel like a 450. I've fitted the tank on the bike and with fuel in it l see that the tank is translucent

There's a torch in the tank and that dark line is the fuel, pretty cool

Now, l have a problem.....
I've bought 2 original tanks for the bike because the Clark tank that came on the bike was rather ugly. The first tank came from the US and had bad UV damage and wouldn't polish up. The second tank polished up well but both tanks came with fuel taps that were broken. l fitted a 175 tap and off the bike a 175 tap fits well and looks right but on the bike the rear fuel outlet fouls on the head stay. Neither tap is repairable so l need a tap.....anyone....please

There are witness marks on the back of this tap, its a tight fit between the tap and the head.

Great news !
l have used a kdx250 wiring loom for the lights and sometimes 30 year old looms can be a bit inconsistent but this one is on the money.

Testing power for the headlight with the motor running, tail light has power too so its only the brake light to get working and if it wont work through the loom l will make its own wiring setup straight off the battery.
The power coming out of the charge system will be for the lights only, the $15 jaycar battery only has to run the brake light so a charge every now and then will keep it charged enough for that.

Meet the team

l have the chain on now and took the 450 around the block. l would describe its performance as 'spirited' and it certainly leaps forward on the throttle !

WOW!! AWESOME!! Which bike is which?
You have a 1985 KDX250? In the USA, 1984 was the last year for the air-cooled 250.

Thanks blokes :-)
From the left '81 450 '85 250 '83 200 and '81 175.
For '85 the 250 got the blue seat and tool bag. We got them '83 to '85 with only minor graphic changes.
