help, problem I cant seem to find !!!
hi , I have 2006 kdx 200. while riding otherday bike suddenly acted like its starving of fuel, splattered and died. I change spark plug and rode another 50m then it died. back home removed and checked, carb. no change , starts first kick but then dies about 10 seconds later. then tried new fuel and removed cut switch , just to test. rode 1km then died. starts first kick then splatters and dies moments later. swopped out ignition coil with a mate but no difference. help !!!!! im sure its something electrical. ive removed carb twice all seems fine inside there. there is spark , im wondering if its enough spark? cdi unit? advise will be appreciated

I know you said you removed the carb, but did you check that the float needle was not sticking and that the float hight was correct. Sounds a lot like the float bowl fills a little, but when the engine is in demand the fuel cannot enter the carb fast enough the keep it running.

hehe hi, I checked the needle twice and it seemed undamaged and free to move as I think it should. havent checked the float level, im not sure what it should be nor have a tool/measuring unit ?

Re: help, problem I cant seem to find !!!
This may sound silly, but I have tried to measure float height and seem to always mess it up. As a result, I simply take a long tube and connect it to the fuel line into carb and with the bowl off I blow into the tide and manually raise the float until the airflow stops. The float has a line on it and that line should be parallel with the carb base. Adjust as needed. Works every time and no special tools required!

This sounds like a carb issue, not electrical. Pull the carb, disassemble it and clean it thoroughly. While you're at it check your tank and petcock/filter for any crud.

Re: help, problem I cant seem to find !!!
how about your vent line from tank.......I had some crud down my stem and bought a new hose, well came with new cap... put it on and just like you ran for a while but would die etc.
Just something else you can check. If the tank isn't breathing it wont let gas go out after a while or very little or slower.
Popped my vent hose out of the stem and whalla blew through it and all was good.

If you cant fix it with a hammer, you have an electrical problem.

if it starts to starv for fuel rpms will alot of times rise as it starts runing lean. Check other vent hoses on carb to make sure they are not pluged it can cause the carb to load up sometimes

Make sure nothing is in your fuel tank plugging off the petcock.I have seen on more than one occasion.

it could be float height is too low, allowing too much fuel into the carb = flooded
flooded will bog and die
lean (too little fuel) will rev and die
check the float height, pull the float needle, and check that it's nice and SHARP, no corrosion around the seat, etc

help, problem I cant seem to find !!!
get a Ohm meter and check the source coil and ignition coil if you get tired of working on the carb.
