Power Valve Replacement?

Post by RalleyTuned »

Pulled the cylinder apart and found the common stripped teeth, but got a nice surprize when one came out in 2 pieces!

What's the best replacement for these? Seems like new ones run about 50ea, was trying to keep this thing under a pretty tight budget though.

Power Valve Replacement?

Post by Gotanubike »

I was talking to Brock just last week, who is one of the owners of BDK racing in the UK. They machine zinc anodized steel copies of 88-92 KMX200 valves.

With the right adapter bushings/collars, they will work with the E series KIPS. So keep an eye out because they will soon have a listing on their website for left valve and bushing adapter kit.

Of the left and right powervalve + plus idle gear, which of yours were damaged?? I have only had problem with the left side valve, which I just replaced last summer and is already starting to strip again. The right side valve and idle gear are fine....And the rest of the stuff, including the center/main valve is steel anyways.

The valves are in stock, he will be getting back to me when they have a few sets of bushes made up. Then he will add a listing to the BDK website.

http://www.bdkraceeng.co.uk/KMX200.html

Current prices are:

£39.50 per valve or £72.00 for a pair

He estimated the bushes to be £10.00

Power Valve Replacement?

Like I said, I just replaced my left valve last summer when I found it was stripped. This is how it looked last week when I opened up the motor...Maybe 8-10 hours on this valve? :?

I got tired of the expense and trouble of having to replace those crappy aluminum valves twice a year so I just used JBWeld to fill those exhaust holes, problem solved. The center steel valve still worked which has the greatest effect and so I couldn't hardly tell the difference. I used to motocross that bike also and got many a holeshot with those holes filled so don't anyone tell how "essential" they are.
