Hey Guys names Brad, got this bike for free from my cousin who paid $300 and decided it wasnt worth fixing. i weigh 150lbs 5'7" and will be riding trail/woods.

Basically looking for support and help. she runs and starts first kick idle to 1/4 throttle seems rich smokey 1/2-3-4 pulls and sounds right full kinda just flats out sounds okay not so much power. no history for topeand care probably none

its got a fmf fatty pipe and fmf silencer?

needs
rear brake pads
front caliper and a spacer because the disk is practically touching the fork
kickcrank has tons of play
have to check all bearings
clutch lever lots of play between bolt and lever.
power reed housing looks brittle(are these expensive)

should i try and jet her or pull the topend?
if i pull the top should i split the case too? or check the rod play before splitting the case.

Just check rod play thoroughly and split cases if it's too far out of spec.

Sounds like it could be jetting, but there is no point jetting a bike with a worn top end. So what I would do if I was you, would be to pull the jug/cylinder off (with head still attached) to check the piston clearance, ring gap, and check that the cylinder coating is good. And if all of the above is Ok, you can put it back together re-using the base gasket (where if you had removed head you'd be up for a new head gasket so may as well do the piston anyway).

With the kick-crank play, do you mean the kicking lever is floppy (so it doesn't hold in near the frame while riding?). If so, you can remove the little allan bolt on the side (don't strip it!) and add a small extra or new ball bearing in there and/or another spring (even just one from a pen) too tighten it up, so long as the knuckle is still half decent.

You need new fork gators too!

It looks like it will come up ok after a bit of a clean. Scraping all that black paint off the rear fender and sanding/polishing will make a difference (And the other plastics for that matter).

I watch a lot of youtube riding videos on Maui from Accidental Broardcast. Some amazing looking riding there!

okay i have looked at the newbike to me thread also . didnt realize i could check the cylinder like that thanks. is there a free fsm or just the one you buy. i should checkit before i ride it because if it goes i could destroy the motor right?

also any input on the reed housing? ill get a pic later. i think i need to build a leak dwn tester.

There isn't a 'free' workshop manual so to speak. However, with some (sometimes lengthy) googling, I've never paid for one for any of my bikes yet.

Yeah best to check it over before you try starting it, if you can resist.

Get a picture, I'm not sure which piece you're talking about. If you do need to replace it you'd be best off looking secondhand I think, or there might be aftermarket ones. (I have some of the reed casing bits spare)

ive started it a few times but your supposed to change the top end after so many hours right? so if idk the last i should change or atleast inspect asap?

the peice between the carb and cylinder.

gonna look for the fsm for the ring gap specs , where should i start my permanent thread?

These bikes have a fairly long service gap. You just take the exhaust off and have a look in the front of the motor with a flash-light to get a rough indication of how old the piston is. People often say to replace them after a certain number of hours, but a better indication is the service limit gaps.

What was said above, plus check the pipe routing/mounting, you appear to have the pipe not mounted to the bike in at least two places I can see.. Fork boots, levers, tlc. Your clutch lever play could be just a stretched cable or misadjustment. rear caliper guard is missing as well. I would lay money that the linkage/swingarm/shock bearings need replacement as well.

clutch play was from wrong diameter bolt giving the lever lots of play before engaging.

no money so not in a rush to tear into the motor but will do if i have time.
