Wheel Options

Post by jeepnhal »

My rear wheel is in rough shape.Missing a spoke, the rest are pretty much loose and rusted, even a torch can break them free.I would just relace it,but some of the loose ones made the holes for the nipples oval .

My question is,is there another wheel that fits or is close to fitting a 1994?KX?KLX?Or am I going to have to stick with stock or aftermarket?
I would like to use a wheel that I can find used and is more common than a KDX one

Just re-lace it w/one of these http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/107 ... ear?v=1243
The rims from H KDXs fit, I believe the whole wheel set from next gen fit the 94, but I have not confirmed that.
When looking for the rims (not whole wheels) shop for a 99 or newer.....the rear wheel doesn't show up for a 95, but it's the same bike...

Looked up rim aplications on RX/Excel's web sit.....the rear RIM application is 89-06 KDX, no other bike is listed to match the rear wheel.
The front RIM application fits these bikes; KDX200 93-06; KDX220R 97-05; KDX250 91-94; KLX250R 94-96; KX250 06-07; KX250F 06-12; KLX300R 97-07; KLX450R 08-09; KX450F 06-13; KLX650R 93-96.

Oooohh, heres the Kaw part # match for the rear hub;
KDX200-E2 (KDX200) (1990-1994)
KX125-H1 (KX125) (1990-1996)
KX250-H1 (KX250) (1990-1996)
KX500-E2 (KX500) (1990-1996)
*this list was edited to show continuing years, instead of listing each year individually.

If you look up replacement parts on kawisaki.com website, there is an option on there to show you what other kawi bikes use the same part numbers

Well, all the rims at KAW are discontinued so the RIMs don't have cross over part #'s. The hubs did as listed above. Since the stock wheels are Excels, I used their web site to find rim X-overs.

I like the new stuff, but my goal is cheap,ha.

It would be nice if newer kdx ones fit.It seems like all the 94 and down ones I come across are hurting too

OK, KX wheels fit from 90-96...as we see in the "hub" compatibility above. Here is your wheel, well the HUB if your hub is trashed, you'll still need the rim as I linked aboved.

Wheel Options

When I built my wheels I used standard KX rims from Warp 9 and laced them to my KDX hubs. It has worked out great but was not the cheapest nor most expensive option.
