Good Starting Point for Kdx 175 Jetting

Post by skippypinecone »

Just got the old 1980 kdx 175 out on the trails this weekend, running terribly rich. I live at about 2500' above sea level and do most of my riding at around 4000'. Need to dig in to the carb and see what kind of jets are in there, I assume they are stock, everything else on the bike including the tires are original. Any one have a good starting point for me as far as main, pilot and clip? Carb is a Mikuni VM34SS and every thing else is bone stock, fresh wiseco top end and Boyeseen reeds. Stock jets as listed in manual are Main 137.5 and Pilot 40.
