On ebay, £50 or best offer = nothing! re advertise £40 or best offer again nothing! just put the forks on with no yokes but though i may have had some interest. Looks like they are staying in the shed for now.

nah mate,carts69 wrote:Yeah forks are done, new everything! not back on bike yet though. so have you given up on off roading, whats with the motard wheels then?? Nice though
still mainly off roading, but wanted some road wheels,my uncle has a kdx250,and my brother has a crm250ar,both will only be using them on the road,so be good to join them (when i get around to doing my test!) lol
i see these talon hub/excel rim package come up,a first custom build for a klx300r (2 years ago,not sure if any have been done since?) exact fit for the kdx (apart from i now have a 17mm front spindle, but i can get exact size bearings to sort that!) but they where well less than half the original price, and have never been used! guy never finished the project!
so gives me the best of both worlds really

glad you have the front end sorted out, lets see some pics now!

Re: Fork oil question?
not yet bud,carts69 wrote:Hey John, have you got those wheels on yet?
well not 100% but trial fitted them.
swapped all the bearings out,as talon use cheap taiwan bearings! obviously changed the front bearing sizes for my 17mm kx axle, just need to get some spacers made up for the front now,and just slightly alter the spacering on the rear.
in no rush to do it at the moment really, anymore news on your fork conversion?
best regards

Re: Fork oil question?
Ok mate, i'll take a look when you have done it! regarding mine... been in the shed most days over Christmas stripping the bike completely, i now have the bare frame, going to blow it over with fresh kwak green & start the build up process, re newing every bearing/seal as i go. currently polishing the swinging arm (looks nice) rather than painting it! Got new side panel/ rad guard decals from the states & fitted them, got the wheels ready to send off in the next week or two for black anodizing! hubs powder coated, new stainless spokes, so yeah im a little way off from getting the forks on the bike but once i have blown the frame over i can start the rebuild process.
The last thing will be the motor... cant wait to pop the head off & see what condition piston/bore is in?? but whatever im sure a wiseco will be on order. Hope you have had a good Christmas mate?

wow you have been very busy, sounds like it will be really nice when finished!carts69 wrote:Ok mate, i'll take a look when you have done it! regarding mine... been in the shed most days over Christmas stripping the bike completely, i now have the bare frame, going to blow it over with fresh kwak green & start the build up process, re newing every bearing/seal as i go. currently polishing the swinging arm (looks nice) rather than painting it! i touched up my frame with kawa green, great match, but if i had the frame completely bare like yourself i would probably get it powder coated, much tougher finish. i quite fancy doing mine at a later date, but having it the newer silver/grey colour.
swingarm will look good, hope you have plenty of autosol

i know what you mean about bearings/seals,replaced everything on mine already, worth the peice of mind though, amazing what a difference it makes!
wheels will look trick in black, really suit the kawa.
xmas day was great bud,but unfortunately on boxing day my aunt who i live with had a stroke!
very stresfull few days, but she was very very lucky, and is on the mend, and back home now,so i am taking care of her until she is back to 100%,hence the reason why the wheels etc are on the backburner.
i have everything ready, when she is back on her feet properly i will pop to a mates with my bike and get the spacers etc made up,then sort tyres etc.
hope you had a great xmas, and have a fab new year

best regards

Re: Fork oil question?
John, Sorry to hear about you aunt! never a good time to get really ill let alone Christmas, what a bummer. hope it's a steady speedy recovery for her & she is up & about soon.Regarding my fame... no its not stripped back to bare metal, i have patches of bare metal showing in the lower regions (where visible), 98% of frame is still green but i am going to prime the bare areas & re blow the lot green. Had the frame been totally bare metal i would have opted for powder coating. Yeah understand about polishing the swinging arm every so often, i know it will dull pretty quick & take a battering but it will teach me to keep the bike up together, something i've not done in the past
Forgot to mention.. i finally sold my KDX forks on ebay, got 40 quid! Anyway mate.. happy new year to you & best wishes to your aunt, take it easy!!

Hi John, hope your well mate? Putting my forks on today, any ideas which way up the top washer goes when bolting these up, its a domed washer! will the raised side face down to the top triple or face up to the top nut?

Re: Fork oil question?
John, Now i am confused! I have 2 washers, 1x flat 1 x domed, 2 x nuts, 1 x adjuster 1 x standard, i know the adjuster seats on the middle thread on the stem & the other is the top nut, it's just the domed washer? pretty sure it was from the KDX set up, but if you don't remember it then maybe not? Should their be just the one, below top nut?

Should their even be 2 washers?
Maybe you could take a peek at yours & see if their are 2 in play?

sorry for the delay bud, been manic!carts69 wrote:Should their even be 2 washers?Maybe you could take a peek at yours & see if their are 2 in play?
just taken a look........i think i see what you mean about this domed washer, although it is very slight.
my kdx definately has this slightly domed washer underneath the top nut,as for my kx forks i cant tell as obviously they are bolted up!
but they both definately only have one washer under the top nut,and that is all the kawasaki parts file shows.
the domed part sits at the top.
hope this helps.

Re: Fork oil question?
Excellent!! Just as i thought, i have been doing somemore searching & have came up with the same result. Thanks for confirming & looking. I can now complete the task, next step removing swinging arm/shock bearings which im off to do right now, these days off work are great
