2001 kdx 220 inverted fork conversion
Hey guys! New to the board and new to the KDX family. I have a 2001 kdx 220 and am looking for the best way to change the front forks to inverted. I do a lot of high speed whooped out roads and occasional moto. What forks will fit and triple clamps. Also possibly shock too but more concerned about the forks. Thanks for any help and advice.

There is an entire section of this forum devoted to fork swaps. Give it a read through.

Re: 2001 kdx 220 inverted fork conversion
Short answer: Klx 300 forks will bolt up with NO modifications needed. Might have to mod the stops to keep them (the forks) from hitting the tank-like mine did. Also no rebound adjusters. Can.use kdx wheel, brakes and wheel spacers with klx forks. Easy mod. Done in an hour. On my 02, the rigidity was immediately noticible in more precise steering and stability and the klx forks were almost five pounds lighter.
Long answer: kx forks can be used but usually need knurling of the kdx stem so the kdx stem can fit into kx triple clamps, and a kx front wheel and brake needs to be used. Has rebound and comp adjusters, but forks may need shortened to keep your kdx from looking like a chopper. Lot more work.

1990 kx 125/250/500 forks & triple clamps will slot straight in with no work, the stops on the yokes line up & you can use the kdx wheel & axel & speedo drive...you will need to use the kx brake caliper.
