2T oil or grease

So I am going to be rebuilding the bottom end and someone told me to put some grease on the new crank bearings(actually all the bearings in the case). I thought you just needed to put some good old 2T oil on them. I use Torco GP7 and that is what I was going to put on the crank bearings. All the other bearings and the bushing in the case(I am replacing them while the cases are split) I was just going to put ATF Type F on them as that is what I am switching to after the rebuild. What is everyones opinion on this?

GREASE?? I would just do what you said, 2-stroke oil in the crankshaft / piston area and transmission oil in the clutch / transmission area.

what Jason said, I wouldn't use grease on any internal motor / tranny component

Thanks guys, that is exactly what I thought. He claimed a little grease packed in the bearings was better for the inital start up.

I use what ever 2 stroke oil I'm running on the crank side, assembly lube on the trans side.

The factory service manual says 2T oil. I personally wouldn't want my fresh engine trying to burn grease!
