Is it possible to remove the airbox all together and replace it with a pod and cover? I want to install a battery into the electrical system and there is really no way to do this because of space. Is there any other option to do this? I want to be able to ride trails with no problems.

What is the reason for adding a battery? There are several options to create street legal wiring on your KDX and still retain your airbox. Baja Designs makes a complete kit for the conversion. Another method is here http://www.kdxrider.net/forums/viewtopi ... ry#p143330.

I already have everything i need for a conversion, I found the baja designs to be a little pricey for my budget. Im running a front headlight, rear tail light, horn, turn signals front and rear and any other accessories i want to add in the future. How easy are those batteries to add stuff like one with terminals. I already have a battery which is about 4.5x4.5x3

I suppose you could put a pod air filter on and put a battery in the stock air box. I'm guessing this is only a street bike. Either way, I'd install a 'outerwear' cover over the pod as I think they are somewhat water resistant if you get caught in the rain.

removing the air box is a very bad idea especially if you want to ride trails .what about a smoothing capacitor rather than a battery ? the battery you have is big enough for a Harley . if you really need a battery choose a smaller one that fits in the air box.

So is there any suggestions on a mounting location for this battery? Or possibly a link to this capacitor and some info. I made a battery box that mounts on the triple trees but im unsure about safety and it gets in the way of my light.

in systems that are designed to work with a battery a smoothing capacitor can be used in place of the battery if the battery is removed . it only works while the motor is running .in my experience on my KTM the lights and blinkers a much brighter at idle with the smoothing cap installed .my bike already had the plug for the smoothing cap installed so it was easy for me .I just used a old smoothing cap from a 92 KDX 250 Australian model. it was behind the right side plate . cylindrical about 2" long and 1" dia with 2 wires .
