KIPS Part Identification

I am working on my top end on my '01 KDX200 and was wondering what this part is, material it is made of, and use, beyond the identification by Kawasaki as "spacer." I have found it on the diagram (highlighted in yellow) but not in the parts removed.

Thanks,

Just a guess, but it looks to be a movement "restrictor", possibly for the European "S" version....

I wonder if that is the o-ring that goes on the RH subport shaft, right were the pointer for part # 46102A is pointing

I just check the Kawasaki site and I don't see the o-ring listed in the parts for the cylinder/head diagram. Has anyone ever replaced this o-ring? Would it dissolve if it soaked in mineral spirits for a week? I am feeling like an idiot because I already put the head back on.

I don't remember seeing it, but it is illustrated plain as day in my manual. I don't know how I missed it.

You'll have to search around on here.
That "o-ring" is called packing. It does not come in a typical gasket kit. I bought some a few years ago based on information I got from this site. If you search past posts on my name you should find where I got the part number.
It won't hurt anything if you did not replace it. Soaking it in solvent for a week probably did not hurt it. It is there to discourage exhaust gases from going from the RH subport valve into that plastic cover on the RH side that has the claw gear in it.
I know you can't replace it without pulling the cylinder. The RH subport shaft will run into the frame before coming out all the way.

Great link! I wished I found it earlier. I ordered the part (#43049-1076) and a new head gasket. Anyone had any luck reusing a head gasket that has been tightened but not run?

It should be fine. I have never done it on a dirt bike but once or twice on a diesel with no problems. Just give it a good looking over and go from there. Any doubt and put in the new one.

I've copper coated and reused a few head gaskets, you should be fine
