Has anyone used these on there forks? http://www.sealsavers.com
Do the amount to anything? Are they worth the time and money? Long or short?

EDIT: Fixed link.
I got some of THESE for my XR when my oem boots met some barb wire. I liked the idea of being able to take them off easily for cleaning due to the velcro. They're ok but don't perform any better than the stock boots as far as I can tell. Water & dirt still gets behind them at times. I don't plan to reorder when they wear out & will go with DAYSTAR BOOTS instead. (I already have a set for the KDX & they are much more durable than oem.)

If I had usd forks I'm sure I'd like having the extra protection afforded by seal savers. Probably worth the price. I'd get the non-velcro type for that application. Dunno if brand makes a difference or not. They're all made of neoprene afterall.

What does it take to clean under them if needed? Can you just roll them back and wash them or are they to tight?

I have looked around a little and they all seem to be about the same price everywhere.

I've used them before on other bikes and believe in them. If I was buying I would buy the long ones and be sure to rinse under them after every ride. I know other dudes that use them with USD forks and they they haven't had a leaky seal in forever.

I hated them. Had more leaks with than without...

Did you clean under them?

I've used the short one (the long one I cut in 1/2) for the past 4 years on my usd. Can't say that I really clean under them often (maybe 1-2 times a year) I'd have to check but seals don't appear to leak.
When I wash, I spray them real good though...

Yes but probably not well enough. I found that when sand got in it could not get out. Had the same experience on mountain bikes too. Not saying they don't work but they did not work for me.

Has anyone else put on seal savers like HRDROKN does? In all the pictures I've seen, the long ones are put on over the top part of the fork.

HRDROKN's approach would definitely keep all the crap out of the seals.

Actually I have run that through my head... when compressed it would wrinkle at the bottom breaking contact with the tube causing a suction effect when it rebounds.... seems to me that would suck up dirt under the sealsavers.

I didn't think about the suction issue.

In his build thread, I asked him about what happens when the fork compresses. I would have thought that could be a problem on the brake side as the 'extra' material would bunch up and make contact with the brake.

He said he's run that configuration on another bike (may have been more than 1, I don't remember) and had no problems.

I may just need to put a set of the long savers on that way and try it out. If I have problems, I'll just cut them as was mentioned to get two sets of shorts.

If you zip tied them tight it would probably help with the suction.

In the pic abouve I'm pretty sure they will compress at the top and the bottom will stay put. Zip tie the bottom to make sure??

I bought a set of long ones for the same price on ebay as the short ones, and cut them in half to make 2 sets of short ones

So far so good.
