If you have fuel starvation problems due to extreme G-loading (fuel slosh) they help a lot. More prevalent on a vehicle that doesn't lean against the forces like a bike does...IE Shifter kart. I've seen guys do OK with these on a kart, but most will run a pump-around since they have to run a fuel pump anyway....Gets rid of the float, and pumps fuel in AND out of carb keeping it full all the time. On a bike, seen plenty of the baddest mofo's on some bad bikes running stock bowls. That being said I've never experienced a foam starve/g-load stave on a bike.

what about a reed spacer? does it help with low end? not worth the money?

It can be hit or miss depending on the motor. I'm not sure of the KDX. Most will just go to the DFIII Reed cage which is proven to work very well for increasing low-end with adding top-end performance as well. Lengthening the intake tract can in fact add low end, but it's at the sacrifice of top-end generally. Same as adding an exhaust spacer. Most of a power shift than a gain. A low-end pipe and DFIII are probably #1/2 on the list for low-end enhancement. Carb mods, head and/or porting would be next depending on how much you are trying to really get all the power off idle you can.
