i would like to have the dimension of the axel because i bought a set of forks kx 125 2001 for 150 and they are in very good shape! so i work in a engineering shop and i will do the axel myself.
so i would like to have the dimension of the axel to modify the center diameter for the bearing of the kdx wheel

Can't you use your old axle to make a new one?

Hi keyfort19, I am looking at doing the axle for the stock kdx wheel too. any input from your axle project? eg: what material you are using and diamensions on the new axle? I am using the 2005 kx125 fork. thanks for any infor.

i will tcheck my drawing and send you pdf this week , but check if the kx 125 axel is the same as the 2001,
for material a use 4340 steel , it's a very resistant steel and it is flexible. so i won't break if you hurt something very hard

i lost my drawing :S:S:S:S
but i remember that the diameter of the axel is... odometer side = 25mm, middle 15mm and brake side 20mm but i don't remember the lenght of each diameter

its okie. thanks alot for the infor. just to check, do you also have to machine a theaded sleeve at the brake side to tighten the axle up? you are referring the diameter brake side 20mm for the sleeve right?

scuse it was not clear, you have to do a sleeve , outside diameter 20mm, inside diameter 15mm, the width is the wisth of the hole in the fork, and cut the sleeve before install, it will permit to squeeze the axel like the original kx axel. The width of the 25mm diameter is the width of the forks the side of the odo meter + 6mm ( to machine a hexagone for a 17mm ratchet) . take in consideration that the odometer mesure 16mm , the the brake side spacer 12mm ( i think!!!!) so go on bikebandit.com and tcheck the width of the spacers that need a kx 125 2005 calcul the width of the spacer you will need to center the will. the length of the 15mm diameter of the axel have to pass true all the wheel + 1 forks ( brake side ) + all the spacer and a 25mm more to be able to make thread ( M14 1.25 or 1.5 don't remember or 9/16 NF if you want it in SAE) .
in final you will have 1 axel with 2 diameter one of 25mm and one of 15mm , + 2 spacer + one sleeve inside dia = 15mm outside = 20mm.
if you have other questions let us know
and good luck

Hi keyfort, do you have a picture of the setup on your KDX front wheel? Do you mean you will need to machine 2 spacers for your conversion? I thought of just 1 spacer will do for the brake side. the other on the odo side to just make use of the axle 25mm to act as a spacer to squeeze everything up. will that work? do you need to hardened the 4340 steel. thanks again.

do you think a 1990 kx 500 front axel is similar or identical to this one? i doubt it, thought I'd ask..

for KDXsg.......its what a does for me but i normaly speak french so it was a bit difficulty for me to explain this cleary but you can use one spacer like you said!;)
