Which is the better option for a 2002 KDX220 motor, the 2001 Model or the 2003? If you could get either for the same price, which would you select?

03.... it was designed for a tighter turning radius.

Take the 03 for sure. Cheaper, and more goodies. Might even check with "RG" suspention as a lot of guys do lifetime revalving. Even if he's lying on the usage, who cares, you're going to want to go through all the bearings on the chassis anyway.

Thanks

I could have gotten either one for $1,400, decide to go with the 03.

I'll be posting pics of the usable parts off the 99 model I had picked up before deciding to sell the 07 KLX300 for a more complete donner. The swing arm is already cut (new bearing kit), frame blasted and new fork seals installed. I screwed up the triple clamp not knowing what I was doing removing the lower bearing. Oh, air box and rear shock too.

I'd prefer selling as a package?

03' turned out to be an 02'. guy doesn't have title but i checked VIN #. Its and 02'. guy also says the carb needs to be cleaned bc it has been sitting up. what you guys think? Our plan was to take Video of it running WELL before tear down, then try to sell engine as a whole. what you guys think it is worth? or should we jump on clean 01' for $1400?

Okay, by now you guys are probably thinking us Bouillion's are crazy?

But here is the latest, considering this 05. Its about a hours drive away, and after talking to the owner (51 yrs old), I believe that he only rode it a few times and it never left his yard! I can pick it up for $2,100, what do you guys think I could get for the motor? I gave the 07 KLX away for $1,700 so, I'm looking to at least break even.

Is this to build a hybrid?
If so it would be a fine choice.
I have no idea what you might get for the motor. It just depends how bad someone else needs one.

You Bouillions need to cross the Mississippi line into Alabama for a fine 20 mile ST loop.

I committed to it today for $2,100 (guy just wouldn't take any less). I'll pick it up tomorrow afternoon. Kids are going to want to burn at least a tank of gas in it before I start the tear down.

I'll most likely post ads for the motor @ $700 and see what happens. Wife not too happy with me dishing out a little extra cash after selling the KLX but then again, she wasn't happy when I bought the KLX.

If this bike looks like I think it will when I see it in person, it should make one sweet build?

I can post an ad on a karting site for the complete motor setup. Complete with carb/pipe/ign I'd guess it will sell for $700 immediately.

Thanks, I just got back to the house from picking it up. It is supper clean! The guy bought it off the show room floor on April 28, 2008. It really never left his yard and he claims he never got beyond 3rd gear. My son wants to take to the track tomorrow just for fun before we start tearing it down? I told him only if its not wet, ha!

I'll let you know about posting the ad. Thanks I never thought of a kart site.Image
