Is there any difference in the two tanks, beside the price difference?
Pros/Cons, etc...

Yep, IMS requires "special" weird looking shrouds. Get the Clarke.

I've seen tanks where the shrouds are molded in and increase the fuel capacity. Not pretty, but functional.

In any case, get the opaque one. So much easier to see how much is left. Also, when stored, drain the tank back into your gas can. The premix will most likely stain the tank and make it not soo pretty anymore.

Why do you need a bigger tank on a KDX?

We ride up to 10 hours sometimes, I've hit reserve once since 2002

So you are going to add a whopping 0.7 gal with your new tank?

Let's see based on 60 miles for a 2.9 gal stock tank your are now gonna get 75 miles. I still say no 10 hrs and SLOW DOWN!

I've had both brands on different bikes and they are well made.

IMS is $245(including the ugly shrouds) for .5 gallon more.

Clarke is $200 for .7 gallon more.

Not much bang for the buck to be sure, but it could be the difference between getting back and pushing.

I been considering getting a clark oversized tank for KX500 to fit my E series KDX. No particular reason other than having some options for graphics and such... I can't get past the UGLY though.

you know you can carry a couple of 1 liter soda bottles with gas in them on longer rides. The Schweppes tonic water ones are pretty strong and have a wider mouth. Backpacking stores carry aluminum fuel bottles if you want to not have anything to mix your gin with. :partyman:

I run the IMS, the extra .5 gallons is nice to have but the ability to see how much is actually in the tank is huge for me. Everyone knows that chicks dig the checkered flag graphics on the rad shrouds.

Good choice! I will get one soon, desert terrain with sand washes hills etc., burns up a lot of gas. I've run out several times on other mounts and it's no fun. What color did you get and where did you find it for $180?

Sorry - it was $189 at Cycle Buy not $180. I bought the green but they have the clearish type and other colors too.

Do you have to get the clear one to see the gas level, or can you see it through the green tank?
