Hey KDX Fans,
I've owned alot of MX bikes in the last few years but had always wanted to try a KDX. I'm a late 40 something rider not in the mood for MX gearing anymore. I picked up a 2000 KDX220 a week ago and am going through it before I take it to the woods. From what I've ridden it so far I think I am going to really like it ALOT! I'm actually a Honda and Yamaha salesperson and love those bike but neither mfg really make what I'm looking for (wide ratio gears in a two stroke). I found this site out in hopes of some education about this bike and what to do to make it the best it can be. I appreciate all the knowledge on this site and hope I can return the favor down the road.

Welcome, shadowscollar! I am new to riding period, so won't have much to tell ya ... but the rest of these guy are a plethora of information and knowledge. Great people.
Enjoy your KDX. It's the ONLY bike I have ever ridden (and fallen off of more
), but love being in the woods with Mother Nature. It is the perfect bike for this mid-40s girl.

Welcome. Read the threads about the 220 piston being prone to breakage, and make sure yours is a Wiseco. Lots can be done to make the 220 snappier. Enjoy!

welcome,you are gonna love it.read all the old posts you can on the rb carb and head mods.220s are fun stock,when jetted right,but if your budget allows while you are taking the top end apart this winter to see if you have a stock piston,send the head and carb off to mr. black for his magic.dont forget the air screw option!then dont forget about the pipe,check out those threads also.opinions vary,but i went for the "tractor facter"with an fmf woods pipe.it just suits my style.i ride tight stuff with very little open road.a pro circuit pcII is a mix of woods and dessert pipe.i ride with buddies that have 2001-2003 xr-400 honda's and smoke them on a good day and when we set up a temporary short track oval,kdx is king.you can putt around like a four stroke and have all the quickness of a two stroke...enjoy.J$p.s. get a shop manual.
