needle questions

I apologize for the lack of information; however, my ride is not close by at the moment. I have a 05 KDX 200 that is ridden around 1000 feet between 40 and 90 degree Southern weather. I believe I currently have a 155 main, a 42 or 45 pilot and stock needle (not sure of current clip position). The airbox lid is removed, Pro Circuit pipe and silencer with some type of reeds in the future.

I am contemplating ordering a few needles to try. I have tried researching and have found several popular needles...CEL, CEK, DEL, DEK. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the *EK needles are more extreme than the *EL needles. I think they have a harder hit where as the *EL needles are a little more tractable. What is the difference between "C" series and the "D" series? I always read where the CEK are associated with the RB carb mod. Which series of needles work best with a stock carb, or do they all work equally well with a stock carb?

Sorry for the long winded questions. I greatly appreciate any helpful insights.

CEL and DEL is what you want. CEL has a bigger initial hit where the DEL has a less radical slope to it so it is more tractable.....

So the CEK and DEK are more useful with the RB modded carbs? If the CEL has the bigger initial hit, does the DEL have the better top rev?

Yes... for the RB only due to the slide cut leaner...

DEL just has a smoother transition....

It might also be noted that it is possible that the CEL and DEL work better with a REV pipe vs. a Woods pipe. (Based on my brothers experience with these needles)

I have the Pro Circuit Platinum II which I believe is a cross between the two. I am not sure if it is more of a woods (torque) or desert (rev) pipe. When you mention possibly that the CEL and DEL work better with a desert pipe, does that mean I would be better off with the stock needle with my pipe?

Not really saying that as my brother's bike came with a woods pipe and he wanted more.... that's when we started playing with needles. It had more but not what we expected when we were changing needles. The pipe was the turning point.

Having said that then Inda, what is the needle preference for us with the Gnarly Woods and Turbine Core II with airbox lid removed setup? Getting ready to start tweaking this winter.

Dr. Inda,

It sounds like you have perscribed a ton of fun.

SSS = Super Sweet Spot right?

Can RB provide the DEK as well?

Thanks
