Any "Safe" way to carry extra gas on a long trail system without buying a bigger tank?

I pack 2 quart bottles of premix in my back pack. I dump them in at the first stop. I've never had issues. There is a company selling one that mounts where the head light is.

That's exactly what I do, except I use it as an extra reserve. I only dump them in the tank once I know I have enough fuel to get back.

The MSR (not malcom smith) fuel bottles are perfect for that use.

I use gatoraid bottles, I use them once so as to not have a "drink" bottle with gas in it laying around in the garage where the kids can get to it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll use the gator aid or similar bottle and top off to get rid of it quicker. Thanks again.

just watch your fuel/millage so that you don't end up with a 10 mile reserve 20 miles from home .

Make sure you don't leave the bottle on the trail though. Tree huggers are just looking for reasons to keep us out of the woods. :butthead:
