I'm not liking the fork guards on my 97 kx forks. I had to make a braket to hold the brake line. After looking at picture of an 04 KX 250 I noticed it comes with the braket molded onto the guard.

Does anybody know if 04 Kx 250 fork guards would fit 97 KX 250 forks?

I have a set of brand new (what I believe to be) 2004 KX guards. They do not fit the 2003. The bolt holes are in different places. I'm not sure how close '97 forks are to '03.

I've tried the same idea with no luck. I don't recall the year of guard, but they didn't fit on my '99 forks. Tried grinding, drilling and fussing with them, came to the conclusion they wouldn't be strong enough considering the material removed.

Probably better off fashioning a clamp on the guards that DO fit.

...I'm going to do that someday.....when I run outta zip-ties.

Thats a pic of mine but what I think I did wrong is cut a slot in the guard and make an "L" shape braket passed it through the slot and the riveted it then bolted the KDX line holder on to my braket. I think I got the idea from someone on here. But I don't like it because my guard is so close to my forks that the braket rubs up against my seal savers and will pobably wear right through it. I made a small block with some 1/4 sheet of plastic I had and used the same zip tie as the seal saver to hold it in place, it's ugly but it works....for now. I had put one on both sides just in case and the first tree that jumped out in front of me on sunday tore one off. Luckily for me it was the side without the brake line.

I've got a YZ part that someday I'll get attached to my guards...maybe.

Ski did something similar on his KDX..but the inside flange was formed to fit the guard and he epoxied the whole thing to get rid of the edges.

I did form it to fit but once again I was in a hurry to get it done and over looked the edges. They aren't very big edges but in the long they can deffinatly cause damage. I didn't have any epoxy and didn't feel like going to the store because that mean more time not spent fixin the bike. I might have to go to the store after all.
